1994 - Current: Principal, ONGdesign: Develop Drupal-based sites for small- to medium-sized businesses and organizations. Handle all the front-end planning and functional design, from assessing business goals to prescribing functionality and content to address those goals. Consult on visual design and copy, then handle the implementation, deployment, and quality control of the site.Basically, I do the site development from soup to nuts, with the exception that I generally outsource visual design and copywriting.
2001-2009: Manager, Leadcleaner.com: Co-developing an ASP Web service which provides lead capture and qualification to direct response agencies. Responsible for product concept, design, UI, marketing, and some back-end development in PHP/MySQL.
1998-2001: Interactive Creative Director, Young & Roehr (B2B full-service marcom agency). Created projects for Sharp, Cadence, Freightliner, Wyle Electronics, many smaller accounts. Ran Interactive dept., supervised programmers, producers, creatives. Planned, created, developed Web sites, extranets, CD-ROMs, software tools. Focus on fulfilling brand promise made in offline media; delivering specialized functionality to diverse, predominantly technical audiences; understanding and abetting clients' complex value propositions, sales channels, and product strategies.
1997-8: Human Factors Consultant: Worked with interactive agencies on Web/CD projects for IBM, Microsoft, H-P, others to improve user experience. Focus on understanding clients' business goals and customer's purchase goals, and mediating between these disparate objectives; and conveying complex, typically quantitative information, in visually simple, benefits-focused forms. Depending on the engagement, delivered interface sketches, user narratives, functional specifications, or fully working prototypes (HTML or Director).
1996-7: Associate Creative Director, CKS Partners (later known as MarchFIRST; interactive agency): Worked on projects for Microsoft, MCI, Mitsubishi, IBM, Avery, Nicholas-Applegate (financial services). Supervised creatives and technical staff to deliver Web, CD-ROM, and kiosk projects ranging from promotional sites, to corporate sites, to sales presentations, to standalone kiosk applications for automotive shows. Focus at this early stage in Web development was on mastering new technologies to present compelling, rich product experiences; developing dynamic, flexible platforms for content management; and presenting a consistent corporate brand across tradtional and interactive media.
